Feature this! In our next installment of our monthly series, we blow a kiss to our adopted hometown, Los Angeles, by blending hard-boiled culture and the absurd to present an evening of performances inspired by LA-centered noir movies, pulp fiction and and the brutal crime comic books of the 40’s. In our signature variety show style,  that includes projected art, live music, and other thrilling acts, the Night of Noir Show creates an atmosphere of thrills!

The Night of Noir Show also is the culminating event of a Los Angeles noir-themed scavanger hunt, the Week of Noir, that Captured Aural Phantasy Theater is presenting the week before the show. Check our Facebook page leading up to June 2 for fun facts from noir film, books and more and unravel daily clues that will take you on a noir- themed scavenger hunt of Los Angeles! Live actors may be at certain sites. LA-themed prizes will be awarded. We love this city and we wanted to get our audiences out in it.

VARIETY SHOW, COMIC BOOKS and COCKTAILS!

Boo! Blending pop culture and the absurd, in this installment of our monthly series at El Cid, we bring to life nuggets straight from the heyday of comic book horror (the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s) through live performances of vintage comic ghost stories, ads, comedic bits, music and, as always, special surprises! Who says you can only be scared in October? Captured Aural Phantasy Theater gives you chills this May 8 - live.

The horror genre outsold all other comic books in the early 50’s. These comics, containing some of the medium’s best writing and art, were the subject of Senate hearings in 1954, the outcome of which eventually brought down the entire comics industry. We present these tales in all of their subversive, terrifying fun!

NOW JOINING THE SHOW - comic book  artist ART FUENTES! Art will be creating an original piece during the show that one lucky audience member will take home!

Remeber gorging yourself on Hanna-Barbera and sugary cereal? The Captured Aural Phantasy Theater players bring to life nuggets of pop culture straight from the heyday of Saturday morning TV (1970 – 1988) through live performances of vintage cartoons, comic books, ads, PSA’s, live music and more!

More than a nostalgia trip, the show brings the ritual of Saturday morning cartoons to new audiences that may have missed (or were too young for) the fun the first time. Come in your pajamas!

Romance comic books outsold nearly all other genres in the mid-20th Century, including superhero comics. These books offered tawdry tales of heartache and redemption as well as practical romantic advice. We bring select masterpieces of these classics to modern audiences in the Sex, Love and Comic Books Show, including titles such as 1969's "My Mother, The Mantrap" and 1962's "The Irresistable Lois Lane!"

the legendary EL CID in Los Angeles!

Usually, we will be appearing the FIRST SUNDAY of every MONTH, but in May,

the Next Show is WEDNESDAY, May 8!

 A Variety Show of Comic Books, Music and Booze.
