For 1 night only, CASTING COUCH CONFIDENTIAL brings to the stage live performances of vintage Hollywood-themed comic book stories along with live music, comedic acts and stunning visual art. We will be showcasing the star-crossed underbelly of LA LA Land with stories from "The Industry's" golden age featuring back-stabbing starlets and cigar-chomping producers performed in our signature variety show/ old radio show style. While the source material may be classic, Captured Aural Phantasy Theater presents them in glorious 21st Century absurdity.

Finish the holiday season with this historic treat! Captured Aural Phantasy Theater, LA’s original comic book performance group, presents the history of comic books LIVE as part of a show that spans narrative illustration of the 18^th Century to today.

In SWIMMING TO METROPOLIS: A LIVE SHOW ABOUT THE HISTORY OF COMIC BOOKS, Captured Aural Phantasy Theater’s MC Ben Dickow, who lectures on the history of comics at Otis College of Art and Design, leads audiences through a visual tour of comic book evolution, connecting it with historic developments in art, literature and politics along the way. The presentation is accompanied by music, special effects, audience participation and El Cid’s spectacular cocktails.

Spend the last night of holidays geeking out with history, comic books and booze!

A SHOW, COMIC BOOKS and COCKTAILS!

The legendary Famous Monsters of Filmland teams up with Captured Aural Phantasy Theater to present the HI-FI SCI-FI INVASION at the historic El Cid for 1 night only Sunday, December 7! This show takes on stories and comic books inspired by classic, mid-century science fiction! It's a B-Movie Drive-In come to life!

The evening includes vintage sci-fi comic books brought to life on stage with original art, live sound effects and a live soundtrack. Classic tales by greats like Ray Bradbury are given an absurdist treatment for the 21st Century. Along with the multi-media sci-fi stories and comic book performances, the evening includes comedic acts, prizes and the finest live music.

HI-FI SCI-FI INVASION is especially important given that the founder of Famous Monsters, Forrest J Ackerman, coined the term "sci-fi!" Spend the evening with Captured Aural Phantasy Theater for an out-of-this-world geek-fest!

The HI-FI SCI-FI INVASION continues our new season and is the next installment in our monthly residency at El Cid. We always start the show at 8:30pm, but doors open at 7:30 so audiences can begin with El Cid's brand new tapas menu and superb cocktails. Enjoy a variety show, music and booze!

This show takes on stories and comic books inspired by Dia de los Muertos, Halloween, Spook Show Magic and music!

The perfect ending to Halloween festivities, our terrifying live variety show features multi-media, radio show-style performances of vintage horror comic book stories and other spine-chilling tales combined with elements of an old time spook show. The night includes live music, ghostly effects, weird magic acts, sultry singing and a monstrous séance. See a girl cut in half! We'll even raffle off a dead body!

Another in a continuing series of monthly shows that represent a collaboration between Famous Monsters and Captured Aural Phantasy Theater, we will be showcasing live performances of H.P. Lovecraft stories performed in our signature variety show/ old radio show style. The evening also includes mid-century Lovecraft-inspired horror comic books brought to life on stage with original art, live sound effects and a live soundtrack.
